2 Days Lake Manyara & Cultural Tour

Tour Overview

This two-day tour is a perfect blend of wildlife and cultural immersion, taking you into the heart of the Great Rift Valley to explore the vibrant life around Lake Manyara National Park and the welcoming village of Mto wa Mbu. Lake Manyara is a compact but biodiverse park known for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, flamingos, and dramatic escarpment views. It’s also one of the best locations for a soft adventure and meaningful cultural experiences in northern Tanzania. With Pangolin Travelers Expedition, you’ll not only enjoy game drives in a scenic national park but also connect with local Tanzanian culture—visiting banana farms, tasting traditional foods, and exploring village life. Whether you choose to bike through farmlands or enjoy a relaxed morning game drive on Day 2, this short safari offers variety, color, and authenticity in just two days.

Day by Day

Day 1: Arusha – Mto wa Mbu – Lake Manyara National Park

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast for a drive toward the Great Rift Valley. Your first stop is Mto wa Mbu village, a lively multicultural town known for its rich blend of over 120 tribes. Here, you’ll take a guided village tour, visit a banana plantation, and enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients. This experience offers an authentic look into rural Tanzanian life, from farming to market life and local crafts.

In the afternoon, continue to Lake Manyara National Park for a scenic game drive. The park’s groundwater forest is home to monkeys, elephants, and elusive leopards, while the alkaline lake supports large flocks of flamingos and other waterbirds. The diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife make this a very rewarding introduction to Tanzania’s wilderness. In the evening, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight at either Eileen’s Trees Inn or Marera Valley Lodge, both located in the lush highlands near Karatu.

Accommodation

After an early breakfast, you have the option to go on a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park to catch animals during their most active hours or embark on a biking tour around the village and lake shore (weather permitting). The biking route takes you past farms, rice fields, and local homes, offering a close look at life in the valley. After your morning activity, begin your journey back to Arusha, with a scenic stop at the Rift Valley Escarpment viewpoint—perfect for panoramic photos before descending to the lowlands.
