Arusha National Park is often overlooked, but it’s one of Tanzania’s most unique and rewarding safari spots. Its three major features — Mount Meru, Ngurdoto Crater, and the Momella Lakes — create a stunning diversity of ecosystems, from montane forest to open savannah and alkaline wetlands.
The park is home to giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, waterbucks, and bushbucks, as well as troops of blue monkeys and the rare black-and-white colobus monkeys. Though it lacks large predators like lions, it’s ideal for walking safaris, canoeing, and birdwatching. Arusha National Park is also the starting point for Mount Meru climbs, offering breathtaking views and fewer crowds compared to Kilimanjaro.
