Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing and gear check, followed by a relaxing evening as you prepare for the climb.
Today’s trek leaves the forest behind as you enter moorland terrain, with wide views and scattered giant lobelias. The trail steadily ascends through open country with volcanic rock formations and low-growing shrubs. After 5–6 hours of trekking, arrive at Horombo Hut, where you’ll spend the night and enjoy a hot meal.
Just after midnight, begin your summit attempt. The trail ascends steeply past Hans Meyer Cave, up to Gilman’s Point (5,685 m) and onward to Uhuru Peak. Witness a spectacular sunrise over Africa at the top of the continent. After celebrating at the summit, begin your descent back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue to Horombo Hut for overnight.
This is the toughest day of the trek, covering up to 12–14 hours of hiking, but also the most rewarding.
On your final trekking day, descend through the heath and rainforest zones, retracing your steps back to Marangu Gate. The walk takes about 5–6 hours. At the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate, a proud reminder of your achievement. Your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and a well-earned res.

My adventure began in Serengeti National Park, where the sweeping landscapes and abundant wildlife completely exceeded my expectations. Our guide, James, was exceptional—his deep knowledge, sharp eye for spotting animals, and genuine passion for the bush made every moment unforgettable. Tarangire was teeming with elephants and beautiful baobab trees, while Ngorongoro Crater delivered jaw-dropping wildlife encounters in the most dramatic setting. The accommodations were clean, cozy, and ideally located near the parks. The food was delicious and hearty throughout the trip. If you're looking to explore the best of Tanzania, this journey with James and Pangolin Travelers is a must! Salome PedroTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
