Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing and gear check, followed by a relaxing evening as you prepare for the climb.
After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate on the western slopes of Kilimanjaro. Once permits are issued, you’ll trek through lush montane rainforest, keeping an eye out for monkeys and colorful birds. After about 3–4 hours of gentle ascent, arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (“Big Tree Camp”) for dinner and overnight.
Climb out of the forest and into the moorland zone today. The trail becomes steeper and more rugged, revealing vast views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak. After a steady 5–6 hour hike, you’ll arrive at Shira 1 Camp, where the terrain opens into an alpine environment.
This day features a gentle trek across the expansive Shira Plateau with only a small gain in elevation. Enjoy the vast landscape, volcanic rock formations, and a chance to see wildlife such as elands or jackals. After about 4–5 hours of trekking, settle in at Shira 2 Camp, a perfect spot to acclimatize further.
