5-Day Marangu Route

Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Elevation: 1,860m – 2,700m | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
The trail starts through lush rainforest, where you may spot monkeys and birds. After passing volcanic caves, you reach Mandara Hut for your first night.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Elevation: 2,700m -3,720m | Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
The path opens into moorland with views of Mawenzi Peak. On the way, enjoy unique vegetation and a steady ascent that helps with acclimatization.

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Day 4: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Starting at midnight, climbers ascend to the summit. Watching the sunrise from Uhuru Peak is unforgettable. Afterward, the descent returns you to Horombo Hut.
